I’ve been asked by a few of my constituents to amplify awareness for several causes.
Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the severe winter storms, blood inventories are dwindling and there is widespread concern for the nation’s blood supply. In the United States, a patient needs blood every two seconds, and since blood has a short shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished. Blood donors are needed now and will continue to be needed throughout the year. Healthy, eligible donors can find their local blood center via aabb.org/giveblood to make an appointment. Thank you very much to all those who are ensuring that patients have access to life-saving blood products.
Rare Disease Day:
Rare Disease Day is the last day of February and raises awareness for rare diseases in order to improve access to treatment and medical representation for individuals with rare diseases and their families.
Coming up in May is ALS Awareness Month and with it comes a round of support and advocacy for everyone who has received the diagnosis that is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Many individuals within the 16th Legislative District and around NJ advocate for rare diseases and need our support. I would like to hear from you, so that my office can be responsive to your needs and include you in a rare-disease information forum that I am planning.
Please email me at [email protected] or call 732-823-1684.
Book Drive for the YMCA and YWCA Learning and Daycare Centers
In an effort to foster the joy of reading, I have launched a book drive for the children enrolled in the YMCA and YWCA day care and early education learning centers throughout the 16th District.
By donating a book which you can do by clicking on the book drive link, you will be helping the day care and learning centers provide their students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in life. The services ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, gender, race, national origin, or income has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Donating is easy, just click on the below link, choose your preferred YMCA or YWCA facility, and go shopping for a book or books among a specially selected inventory. You will receive a tax receipt from our online partner YouGiveGoods, which has successfully partnered with us on other 16th District outreach initiatives.
